An overseas romance brought Katie and Darragh’s everlasting love story to the stunning surroundings of Dromoland Castle for their Dream Irish Wedding.
The Couple
Starting with Katie’s college semester in Ireland, Katie and Darragh’s connection began to form on Irish shores. Not daunted by the distance of the Atlantic Ocean as Katie returned to the United States, the pair kept in contact before reconnecting again and realising it was meant to be.
The Destination: Dromoland Castle
Stepped in history, surrounded by stunning floral gardens and luscious grounds, Dromoland Castle has a special place in the couple’s hearts. When deciding on Dromoland as their chosen venue, Katie reflected that “The grounds are breathtaking, and the staff is beyond welcoming and friendly.”
The Ceremony
The ceremony was held at St.John’s Church in Cratloe, where their closest family and friends attended the intimate wedding service.
With fresh, pastel flowers adorning the church entrance, the scene was set for Katie and Darragh to exchange vows.
They were even surprised by a special musical performance from their talented friends and family. A lovely personal touch to send them on their way to married life.
The Bride
Katie looked stunning in her elegant, Amsale, couture gown and full skirt that reflected her effortless beauty.
After a showstopping first dance, Katie then changed into a second dress for the remainder of the night. This special dress was shortened and resized from the dress worn by Katie’s mother on her own wedding day.
Katie also danced the night away in the shoes worn by her mother-in-law on her wedding day. As Katie said, “It was so special to have a piece from both of their weddings!”
The Décor
A classic and stylish theme created the perfect atmosphere for this wedding.
The castle interior speaks for itself. Pastel florals of cream, peach and pink add an understated pop to the majestic set-up.
Matching candlesticks and fresh greenery added the finishing touches to this sensational celebration.
The Highlights
When we asked Katie about her favourite part of the day, she replied, “Darragh and I have been lucky to become so close to each other’s families while travelling between NY and Cork over the years. To have all of our loved ones in one room together was indescribable. We were surrounded by so much love and, because of you and the staff at Dromoland, we did not have a worry in the world and were able to just take it all in and have fun!”
We were also given this great piece of advice for any engaged couples, “Get a wedding planner! The lead up and the day of were so smooth and it really allowed us to take in and enjoy every moment.”
